I really, really wonder what the hell caused an injury like that.
Sure looks like scarring from a necrotic wound...

I was thinking the flesh was surgically excised for osme reason.
Yes, exactly. Sorry, wasn't terribly precise. It looks like the scar from the surgical removal of necrotic flesh. ^_^
That's the word I was looking for!

i think it is conpartment syndrome
Probably skidded their motorcycle.
i'm thinking flesh eating virus, or some form of aggressive infection.
they've had a skin graft on the are as well.
Yep - definitely a skin graft on whatever caused this.
Damn ... that had to be gnarly!

I have a friend who had some tissue removed due to a necrotic infection. They had a skin graft over the site. It looks much like that now. I should send him this link as an idea for a tattoo for him.
Because noone else has said it and it should be in the mix imo: huge fucking burn.

I have a friend with a very similar scar, caused by a massive leg injury (he was hit by a car while riding his bike) that required a skin graft.
I've come to the conclusion that if I die in Italy that will be how. I've had some really close calls on my bike.
My uncle has scars like that on both his legs. He was in the army and was out on maneuvers when he got both his legs caught up in the firing mechanism of the tank he was in. When it fired it just ripped his flesh off his bones.
I don't think that's what happened to this guy cos his scar is just too neat (for want of a better word). But wanted to throw that in there.

That's about as thoroughly non-tiresome as a tattoo can be. The only harder-core tattoos I have ever seen are radiation-therapy targets, but I have to admit they're not as fun to look at.

Here are a couple more:
The latter being a bypass scar.
My 2p on the cause of the scar is either a motorcycle accident or the surgical removal of flesh after necrotizing fasciitis.

maybe he removed the skin on purpose. for art's sake.

I was pondering that possibility as well...
i was thinking this too. probably another BMEzine idiot. gross.
if it's a real wound, not self inflicted, then whatever. but i'm seriously over the extreme body modifications.
Oh my god...we are just meat. Freaky.

Soylent Green is Zippers!

yay! your comment made me smile.
That's almost as cool as the "gone to market" tattoo on the foot with missing toes!
That sounds cool, where was that?
I've no idea where the original is, but there's a copy here
Oh my god, this is incredible (I love people with a sense of humor about themselves). This and the connect-the-dot giraffe are my favorite tattoos.
fuck yeah man! make it yours!

That must feel extremely weird to poke.
Am I the only one to notice that the Zipper is facing the wrong way at the bottom of the opening? either that or the top of the wound should have the end of the teeth and not more teeth going up the leg?
Hey look at that. :)

"hey dude, you got a tattoo of a zipper around that vagina on your leg".
